After the death of Udai Singh in 1572, Rani Dheer Bai wanted her son Jagmal to succeed him but senior courtiers preferred Pratap, as the eldest son, to be their king. In the begining of battle Mughal Army was surprised by the sheer bravery of making full frontal attack by Rajput soldiers but soon Artillery and numerical superiority of Akbar’s army began to tell, there was huge number of losses on rajput side.

Then came the battle of Haldighati on jin which the armies of Pratap and Akbar met at village of Haldighati near the town of Golconda, in which the Pratap army of outnumbered by the Akbar’s army. Akbar send total six diplomatic missions to Pratap but none was able to make Pratap surrender in front of any foreign invader, after some time man of Pratap’s nobels and many of his brothers (Shakti Singh and Sagar Singh) moved towards side of Akbar. But on the day of ceremony Jagmal was physically moved out of the palace by the trusted nobels and Pratap Singh was declared as the next ruler of Mewar and he took oath that until he recapture whole of his land back from Mughals he wil not live in Palace, will not eat his food in gold or silver dish and won’t sleep on confortable bed. During the last time of Udai Singh, he wanted to make Jagmal Singh as next ruler of Mewar who was Pratap’s younger brother and was the son of Rana’s favourite wife DheerBai. In 1586 during reign of Rana Udai Singh II, Maharana Pratap’s father, Chitoor was captured by third Mughal Emperor Akbar and third Jauhar took place at Chitoor, but Rana Udai Singh II along with hai family left the fort and founded the city of Udaipur named in the name of Rana Udai Singh II. He was married of Maharani Ajabde Phunwar at age of 17, he was having total 11 wives, 17 sons and 5 daughters out of which Amar Singh was eldest son of Maharani Ajabde and Pratap, and became the next ruler of Mewar after Pratap Singh. His real name was Pratap Singh but later due to his works and deeds he was given the title of Maharana. He was born on may 9,1540 at Kumbhalgarh and was the eldest son of Rana of Mewar Udai Singh II. Like his ancestors he fought for his freedom for whole of his life and called the title of MAHARANA of MEWAR.
